Simon was admitted as a Fellow member of the Actuarial Society of South Africa in 2003. He has 23 years’ experience in the life insurance industry, the last 6 as a statutory actuary, now the head of actuarial control function, for 3 South African life insurers. Simon has contributed to various Actuarial Society committees and mentored numerous actuaries and students. For the past 2 years he has been studying applied ethics part-time towards the degree of Master of Arts. His research topic for this was the actuary’s duty to the public interest.
